Raised on the place
Zach was among the youngest of Dick and Blitz Reynolds' four sons, and one of two born at Long Creek Lodge itself. His childhood was the estate at its full working strength: the dairy and the hatchery, the shops and the skeet field, the movie theatre in the workshop compound, the lake and the boathouse.
Photographer of Devotion
Much of what survives of daily life at Devotion in the 1950s survives because Zach photographed it — the boathouse, the projectors, the laboratory, the theatre, the people who worked on the place. Those photographs form the "Life at the Lodge" gallery in the estate history.
Workshops and the skeet house
A mechanic and tinkerer by temperament, he made the stone skeet house one of his favorite workshops and kept the machine shops in use long after the estate stopped needing to make everything it used. His daughter Kathryn inherited that portion of Devotion and continues to farm it.
