A daughter's inheritance
When the estate passed down through the family, Kathryn Reynolds inherited the portion of Devotion that includes the farm compound and much of the working land her grandparents built. She has kept it working rather than ornamental.
Fields cleared and mown in the 1930s are still cut and grazed. Barns built of chestnut and river rock still shelter animals. The choice has been continuity: the same land, managed with the same intent, by hand and by tractor.
Conservation breeding
Through the Devotion Conservancy she breeds rare and critically endangered heritage poultry and livestock, working to keep breeds in existence that commercial agriculture abandoned. Breeding stock, hatching eggs, and flock records are maintained on the estate itself.
